Fort Lauderdale just scored big — and not just on the pitch.
Fort Lauderdale United FC has officially launched FTL Cares, a new community impact initiative that’s all about harnessing the power of soccer to give back, connect, and inspire across South Florida. Think of it as the city’s newest team effort — but this time, the whole community is on the roster.

What Is FTL Cares?
FTL Cares isn’t just another PR campaign. It’s a long-term movement built around volunteerism, youth engagement, and accessible sports experiences — all led by the players, staff, and fans of Fort Lauderdale United FC.
“FTL Cares is about showing that the heart of this club extends far beyond the pitch,” said Tommy Smith, Chairman of Fort Lauderdale United FC. “We want our players, staff, and fans to feel connected to this city not only through the game, but through the work we do together in our community.”
In other words: this isn’t just about scoring goals — it’s about making real change.
How It Works: Giving Back, One Event at a Time
The first year of FTL Cares is stacked with ways for locals to get involved. The club plans to roll out a full calendar of community service events, youth soccer clinics, and charitable activations.
Expect to see:
Canned food drives supporting local food banks
Toy collections for kids in need during the holidays
Neighborhood beautification projects that make our city shine
Each event will spotlight a local cause, creating hands-on ways for players and fans alike to make an impact — no cleats required.

FTL Assists: Every Ticket Helps
In true soccer spirit, every assist counts. The club is launching FTL Assists, a program that provides complimentary or discounted match tickets to community organizations, schools, and nonprofits.
The goal? To make the beautiful game accessible for everyone — especially for South Florida’s next generation of fans and athletes. Local businesses and individuals can also “assist” by donating tickets each home game.
It’s the perfect way to share the love of the game while opening doors for kids who might not otherwise get to experience it.
How Local Brands Can Join the Team
FTL Cares isn’t just for fans — it’s also an opportunity for local and national brands to get involved. The initiative offers flexible sponsorship opportunities, where partners can align with specific causes or events that match their company’s values.
Sponsors can expect recognition across:
Event signage and digital campaigns
Social media features
Media activations
And even a chance to roll up their sleeves alongside players and fans during volunteer events
It’s community impact with major visibility — and all for a good cause.

Highlighting South Florida’s Everyday Heroes
Beyond the events, FTL Cares plans to highlight the stories that make our city shine. From local volunteers to nonprofit leaders, the club will spotlight South Florida’s unsung heroes through digital storytelling, press features, and social campaigns.
It’s part of the team’s mission to remind everyone that you don’t need to wear a jersey to be a player in your community.

A Club With Purpose
Fort Lauderdale United FC isn’t new to breaking ground. As a club, they’re not just focused on winning matches — they’re on a mission to build pathways from youth to professional play, nurture local talent, and reflect the spirit of Fort Lauderdale itself: vibrant, ambitious, and united.
Currently, the club fields two professional teams — the women’s Division One USL Super League team and the men’s USL League One team (set to debut in 2026) — alongside pre-professional squads in USL League Two and the USL W League.
FTL Cares marks the next evolution of that mission — proving that greatness isn’t just measured in goals, but in the good you do.
