The Savoir-faire Shorts Film Festival—a vibrant celebration of global storytelling and local artistry—returns November 6–9, 2025 to Savor Cinema, bringing four packed days of short films, filmmaker Q&As, live music, food, and the kind of cinematic energy only Fort Lauderdale can deliver.

Presented by the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) and the Broward County Film Society, this second edition of the festival promises “short films, big screen, global & Florida stories” from across the world—from Australia to Austria, Canada to Cyprus—and right here in the 954.

More than 80 filmmakers are expected to attend, with 43 local productions featured in the Made in Broward and Florida Sunshine Celluloid showcases. That means your next favorite director might be sitting in the seat next to you.

The Art of Storytelling, Fort Lauderdale Style

This year’s festival poster comes from none other than Laurence Gartel, the internationally recognized digital art pioneer whose neon-splashed visuals have graced museums around the globe. His work perfectly captures the spirit of Savoir-faire—bold, boundary-pushing, and full of personality.

"These bite-sized films have become powerful storytellers, captivating audiences with their brevity and creativity," says Hal Axler, Managing Director of the Broward County Film Society. "After the success of our February edition, it was clear the community wanted more." And more they’ll get: 16 themed programs that span every genre imaginable—animation, drama, thriller, sci-fi, documentary, comedy, and everything in between.

Opening Night: Jazz, Films, and a Chocolate Fountain (Yes, Really)

Thursday, Nov. 6 kicks things off in classic Fort Lauderdale fashion: 5:30 p.m. – The Opening Night Party unfolds in Savor Cinema’s courtyard with live jazz from Randy Bernsen, signature cocktails, and appetizers before heading into a lineup of eight wildly creative short films like The Right Hand Man, Good Guy, Salt!, and N.I.L.ionaires, starring NFL legends Clinton Portis and

Phillip Buchanon.

After the screenings, head back outside for desserts (including a literal chocolate fountain) and more live music under the stars.

If you’re feeling bold, stick around for “The Creeps” at 8 p.m., a spine-tingling selection of horror and fantasy shorts that’ll leave you glancing over your shoulder.

Friday Brings the Laughs (and the Late-Night Energy)

Start with Variety Pack #1 (5:30 p.m.) for a whirlwind mix of drama, comedy, and fantasy, then slide into The Comedy Club (7:30 p.m.), hosted by director-comedian Wil Shriner (Everybody Loves Raymond, Frasier, Gilmore Girls, and the Carl Hiaasen adaptation Hoot).

Feeling adventurous? Late Night Shorts (8:45 p.m.) serves up sharp comedies, swoon-worthy rom-coms, and high-octane crime flicks—with some late-night eats, too.

Saturday: Docs, Diversity & Global Perspectives

Start your morning with Documentaries (10 a.m.), then linger over Docs & Delights (11:30 a.m.) with warm waffles and espresso (yes, brunch and films—genius).

The afternoon rolls through Variety Pack #2 (12 p.m.), featuring actor Sawyer Spielberg and NFL alum Phillip Buchanon, followed by Family Ties (2 p.m.), and Our Shorts (4 p.m.), a beautifully curated LGBTQ+ program presented by Our Fund, complete with an outdoor OUTside Social reception.

Finish the day with World Cinema #1 & #2 (5:45 & 7:45 p.m.), where stories from Pakistan, Germany, Iran, and beyond reveal how universal our struggles and dreams really are. Between screenings, enjoy A Taste of Israel—a Kosher Mediterranean reception with hummus, salads, and more, all free with your ticket.

Sunday: Homegrown Talent Takes the Spotlight

The day begins with Made in Broward 1 (1 p.m.), showcasing everything from sci-fi to soulful local tributes—including a short honoring Fort Lauderdale jazz legend Jaco Pastorius.

At 2:30 p.m., the Taste of Florida Reception & Filmmaker Panel welcomes guests for Florida eats courtesy of Southport Raw Bar and insights from CAA’s Max Geschwind, Broward Cultural Division’s Janet Ellison, and Film Lauderdale’s Christy Andreoni.

Meanwhile, the doc Fiddler on the Moon screens inside, featuring Neil deGrasse Tyson, Jeffrey Hoffman, and Jessica Meir exploring faith in outer space.

Then it’s time for the Sunshine Celluloid programs (3:30 p.m. & 5 p.m.), which take audiences on a cinematic road trip from Tallahassee to the Everglades—before closing out the festival with Made in Broward 2 & 3 (6:45 p.m. & 8:30 p.m.), followed by a Pizza and Beer Bash to toast the winners and the week.
